1. Hacker News(Show HN)

  1. Show HN: I open-sourced a complete framework for running a company (8 layers, 12 industries, failure cases)
  2. Show HN: Company Operating System – cross-industry management framework (not another ERP)

正文

I've spent years in manufacturing (OEM/ODM) and kept noticing the same gap: GitHub has ERP software (Odoo), company OS tools (Operately), governance constitutions (Holacracy) — but nothing that connects the whole chain.

So I open-sourced it: https://github.com/Focus688/company-operating-system

What's inside:
- 8 layers: Strategy → Governance → Value Chain → Organization → Resources (People/Finance/Materials/Data) → Moat → Risk → Decision Engine
- 3 cross-cutting threads: lifecycle stages, people iceberg model, 12 industry deep-dives
- Failure case library: Nokia, Kodak, ofo, LeEco, Evergrande, Enron, Luckin, Sanlu, 737MAX — how companies actually die, mapped to the framework chapter that prevents it
- Downloadable monthly/annual diagnosis templates (10-min monthly health check)
- CEO decision engine: bounded rationality, OODA, scenario planning, Bayesian updates, reversible vs irreversible decisions

The 6-step path if you're a founder:
1. Calculate real margin by product/customer
2. Set budget + approval authority matrix
3. Build monthly review + quarterly strategy cadence
4. Secure key roles with A/B backup
5. Set red lines (cash, customer concentration, policy scenarios)
6. Kill one unprofitable business every year

Docs are Chinese-first (English README available). PRs welcome — especially industry playbooks and failure cases.

Why this matters to me: management docs are usually either MBA fluff or vendor marketing. I wanted something a factory owner can actually use on Monday morning.

Title:I built a free, open-source “company operating system” – 8 layers from strategy to decision-making, with failure cases and templates

正文(r/Entrepreneur 版)

Over the years running a manufacturing business (OEM/ODM), I noticed the same pattern:
- We knew we "should" have strategy, budgets, KPIs, reviews
- But every framework out there was either a $200 book, an MBA course, or a SaaS demo
- Nothing connected strategy → governance → operations → cash → moat → risk → people → decisions

So I wrote the thing I wished existed and open-sourced it:

📦 github.com/Focus688/company-operating-system

What you get (all free, MIT):
🏗 8-layer framework: Strategy (with Huawei's BLM method) / Governance (equity, subsidiaries, cross-border firewalls) / Value chain / Organization / Resources / Moat / Risk / Decision engine
🏭 12 industries: manufacturing, tech, finance, retail, F&B, cross-border trade, professional services, logistics, healthcare, education, real estate, agriculture — each with cost structure, key metrics, moats, risks
💀 Failure library: Nokia, Kodak, ofo, LeEco, Evergrande, Enron, Luckin, Sanlu, Boeing 737MAX — how each died + which framework layer prevents it
📋 Monthly/Annual diagnosis templates you can print today
🧠 CEO decision method: how to decide with 70% info, reversible vs irreversible decisions, scenario planning, Bayesian updates

If you're a founder, the 6-step start is in the README. It'll take you from "we manage by gut" to "we have a system" in about 3 months.

Happy to answer questions or take PRs for your industry's playbook.

r/startups 版微调:开头强调「for startups scaling past 10 people」,结尾加「the decision engine chapter alone is worth the read if you’re the solo founder making all calls」。

r/smallbusiness 版微调:强调「small business owner, no COO, this replaces a COO for the first 100 employees」——呼应 Operately 的定位。

📦 github.com/Focus688/company-operating-system

github.com/Focus688/company-operating-system
